Who would welcome the prick of a gimblet?
Brilliantly told, Andrew. I knew the tale of Jumbo, but I didn't know the full story of Chunee before now. A grim tale, as ever.
I recall reading about Thomas Edison, that he introduced his "electric Chair" to the public by electrocuting an elephant. I remember seeing a picture of this in this book. Doubt if that could happen today. "Ages & Stages".....Thanks.
Isn’t it a wierd request. You ask us to “like” a barbarick treatment and murder of an elephant? Wich lesson are we learnt here?
I love elephants. I even tracked down and bought the book,”The Elephant who walked to Manchester” Rajah was treated with dignity
Fair point! As I said, it's a sad story – and both history and modern times bring us many more of them. I agree: elephants are amazing.
